Maria was born circa 1889 in Mahrensdorf, Austria. After her parents died she moved to Zürich with her brother Vincenz to live with their brother Anton and his young family. They all chose to emigrate to America together and so boarded the Titanic in Southampton. 

Maria was in third class cabin R190 at the stern with her sister in law and neice along with Aloisia Haas and Josefina Arnold. On the night of the disaster they were woken by Anton and as they made their way to the Boat Deck Maria was separated from her family and never seen again. She perished in the sinking and her body, if recovered, was never identified. 

Her brother Anton was given her death certificate and compensation as her only surviving relative
