Profile
Born Margaretta Corning Stone, known as "Daisy" was born in Morristown, New Jersey in 1872.
Daisy and her husband Frederic frequently travelled with their son Douglas.
Daisy enjoyed photography and travelling and kept detailed diaries of their overseas adventures. She managed to save these on the night of the disaster. The family also took Ellen Bird, the personal maid to Ida Strauss, into their household.
After the horror of the Titanic, Daisy wrote and illustrated a storybook for her son. It described their European travels and the experience on the Titanic as told through the eyes of a teddy bear. Douglas sadly died in 1915 and Daisy ceased her writing. She passed in 1950.
Forty years later Mr. Leighton Coleman III, a relative, discovered the stories and diaries and the story was published as "Polar, the Titanic Bear"
