Profile
Abraham ran a wholesale stationary business and was on a business trip across Europe with his eleven year old daughter Helen in February 1912. They visited Austria, France, Germany and Britain. Abraham boarded Titanic alone. He survived on the contraversial Lifeboat 1 and his wife back in the USA was distraught at the news that her daughter's name did not appear on the survivors list. Census data shows Helen did not perish in 1912 and lived until 1971. The story behind what happened to her and how she returned to her parents remains a mystery.
Abraham did claim he was "picked up" by lifeboat 1, but this claim seems unlikely. Family members tell of a man who never spoke of his experience, in fact he was an almost reclusive character who rarely spoke. A niece described him as "like a man who was hiding something"
Salomon passed away in 1959 with an estate valued an estimated $117,000. Helen managed the finances shrewdly and on her death left an estate of just less than $250,000
