Profile

When John "Bertie" Ellis signed up for the Titanic he was married with three children, he had previously worked as an assistant vegetable cook on Oceanic.  It is understood he survived the sinking by boarding lifeboat 2, both steward James Johnstone and able seaman Frank Osman stated he was onboard.

His life took a dramatic twist a few months after the Titanic disaster as he "jumped ship" when in port in the US and was never heard of by them again.  John fled to Australia where he married once again and raised another family. He served with the Australian infantry in World War One and he passed away at home in the suburbs of Sydney aged just 48.
