Profile

Crosby married Catherine Elizabeth Halstead and in 1903 founded the Crosby Transportation Company. By 1910 it was operating four steamers out of Milwaukee: Nyack, E.G. Crosby, Conestoga, May Graham

The Crosby's had three children, Marth, Fred and Harriette. The couple was travelling with their daughter Harriette on the Titanic. On the evening of the disaster, after the collision he went out to investigate and when he returned to the cabin abruptly told his wife "you will lie there and drown!" He was not with his wife and daughter when they boarded a lifeboat.

His body was recovered and his funeral took place on one of his Lake Michigan steamers on May 7 1912.
