Boxhall was the officer who sighted the lights of the SS Californian and was then placed in charge of lifeboat 2
He was the last surviving deck officer to leave the ship and according to his wishes his ashes were scattered in the Atlantic at 41°46N 50°14W, the position calculated as the final resting place of the liner. (within 15 miles of the actual position at 41°43N 49°56W)
