2022 Christmas Film World Cup Final: SCROOGED v ELF

Updated: Dec 27, 2022

The journey that started on November 12 with the Prequalifying Round before the competition proper has reached the climax, the grand final.

Final - 24/12/2022

An astonishingly close result but in the dying moments Scrooged found the Brexit margin. Despite all the goodwill Elf had in the end Scrooged is a worthy champion, having overcome two former champions on the way to the final, the first double winner....

Scrooged 52%

Elf 48%

An astonishing journey to the final for Scrooged, overcoming The Nightmare Before Christmas, Krampus and unexpected challenger The Tomorrow War in the group and then Jingle All The Way in the Last 16, then defeating two former champions in the quarters and semis, also becoming the first competitor to take out Die Hard before final.

Elf has been heavily backed throughout the championship and after seeing off Jingle All The Way, The Kranks and Bad Santa it the group stages before taking out Krampus in the Last 16, big hitters Gremlins in the quarters via penalties and 2018 finalist Home Alone in the semis.

These two have never come up against each other, Elf was a twice semi finalist in 2010 and 2014 and suffered a shock defeat in 2018 to Muppets Christmas Carol in the Last 16. Scrooged lifted the title in 2010, lost out in 2014 at the quarter final stage to Die Hard and then Semi Final heartbreak to Home Alone in 2018.

It all comes down to these last two challengers...
