Future Present Simple

Using the Present Simple to talk about the future

The  Present Simple is used to refer to facts, therefore when using it to  talk about the future it is used to refer to fixed, scheduled or  timetabled events. The Present simple form is discussed here.

Present Simple for the future

  • A timetable

The train leaves at 17:30


  • A schedule

The class finishes in ten minutes


  • A known fact

His birthday is in May


  • An arrangement

We have our exam on Tuesday
