Latest updates

It is Monday evening and the first week twitter poll has therefore come to a close. The first week polls have now been removed from the Bulldogz twitter feed. The resulting points will be added at the end of the group stages and not announced now, to add a little extra drama to proceedings. If you have twitter, you can vote on our poll there too, find us by clicking on the icon at the top of the page. Please take a moment to follow us while you are there.

The twitter poll has been reopened for the second week of the group stages. The points accrued there could make the difference between elimination and qualification.

The story as it stands currently:

A tendency for tactical voting is emerging in this second week of voting, with some people giving their preferences to certain songs and refusing to provide votes to others. This has given the competition an extra dimension of excitement!

Groups A, C, D, E, F & H seem to have a fairly clear pattern of voting that will need a miracle or huge change of fortunes to reverse. The Pretenders have an outside chance of overhauling East 17 in Group C, Elton John could still feasibly catch Brenda Lee in Group E, but the odds are even more unlikely in the other groups listed.

In Group A, Chris Rea has retaken first place even though the track is tied with Mudd, the spread of voting has favoured Chris Rea even though Mudd has received more first place votes.

Group B is a fascinating battle, with defending champion Roy Wood & Wizzard in an astonishing neck and neck struggle with Jona Lewie for second place behind unexpected group leader, fourth seed, Shakin Stevens.

Group G is still providing surprises as well, as Dean Martin has surrendered his unexpected pole position to Mike Oldfield with Darlene Love in a close third.
