It is not clear how long he had been emploed by Astor, but he was listed as Astor's valet on a westbound voyage in December 1909.
Born in London to a father from Birmingham and a mother from Aberdeenshire. Mr. Robbins settled in New York in 1890 and worked as a Butler.
He was married to French born Louisa De Loye and they had a son named George. He became a naturlized US citizen in 1906
